I'm sure everybody has heard about bed bugs, but you may not know what they look like, how they can infect your home or business, and how to get rid of them!
Well let's start with what they are and just how to identify them. The technical name for these pesky bugs is 'Cimex lectularius'. These blood thirsty pests are considered a public health pest by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Although these pesky creatures are a public health pest, they are not known to spread disease but some individuals have had an allergic reaction.
This doesn't suggest you can simply overlook bed bugs or otherwise take the problem seriously. They can cause other public health problems so it is critically important to prevent and control these pests.
Over the last few years, there has been a greater problem with bed bugs in the USA. Professionals associate increased traveling, lack of public education, bed bugs being resistant to chemicals and inadequate control methods to the increased problem.
